Python: How to get all combination?

Please tell me how to get the following combination in python.
I have a list:
L = list(range(N))
Say N=10, it will be:
L = [0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9]
From the list, I want a new list picking two elements up and making five pairs(use all elements but each element only once in the list).
It would be like:
M = [[0,1],[2,3],[4,5],[6,7],[8,9]]
or can be:
M = [[0,2],[1,3],[4,5],[6,7],[8,9]]
I guess there are 9*7*5*3*1=495 combinations, but how to get all those combinations(not as permutations)?
