Encoder Decoder Network Image Compression
$begingroup$
Could you train an encoder decoder network to take an image in and attempt to recreate that image as an output. I am basically interested at looking at the intermediate feature vector representation of the image output by the encoder, and using this as a form of compressed file. To decompress you would just pass to the decoder half of the model.
Could you potentially get incredibly high compression rates if your model worked well enough?
